The aim of PSHE is to provide a stimulating and supportive learning environment in which students can develop their feelings of self-worth and confidence especially in relationship to others.
Every young person should leave school prepared to take their place in a rapidly changing and challenging world. PSHE is about providing pupils with the knowledge, skills and confidence to make safe, healthy and informed relationship choices as young people and in the future, as adults. Whitecross Hereford is committed to supporting students to learn how to manage their feelings and emotions in a healthy way. We want students to develop the skills for life-long success in building and sustaining healthy personal relationships.
This means:
Students are able to develop feelings of self-respect, confidence and empathy.
Students are prepared for the changes that occur to their bodies, minds and emotions as a consequence of growth from childhood to adulthood.
Students understand how the law applies to their sexual relationships.
Students understand the difference between safe and abusive relationships and are equipped to get help if needed.
Students know about the risks of being online and how to stay safe from exploitation.
Students are tolerant and respectful citizens in modern Britain.
