Welcome to Whitecross

Denise Strutt - HeadteacherWelcome to the Whitecross Hereford, High School and Specialist Sports College

I hope that this site gives you a flavour of what makes our school so special and that it provides you with the information you need whether you are a parent, student, visitor or prospective colleague.

In 2006 we moved into a state of the art new site which offers outstanding facilities for everyone in our community. Our new school has rightly won awards for its design and for its green credentials.

However, our people are our most important asset and we are proud of having a learning environment where positive relationships and strong values matter. Our school is a calm, safe and purposeful place where students do excel every day. Students at Whitecross have a right to excellence. We believe we have created a learning environment where resources are first class, the curriculum is innovative and where quality teaching and learning lie at the heart of everything we do. Whatever your child’s passion, there will be something here for them. In return we expect our students to work hard and to actively contribute to the life of the school. This is reflected in our ethos of ‘excellence for all, excellence from all’.

Standards are continuing to rise and last year saw our best ever GCSE results.

In 2009, 77% of students achieved 5 or more A* to C grades at GCSE and 46% of students gained 5 or more A* to C grades including English and Maths. These superb results are a tribute to the close working partnership between staff, students and parents.

Little wonder that we are one of the most oversubscribed schools in the county. We are committed to becoming one of the highest achieving schools in Herefordshire and the West Midlands.

Of course the best way to get a feel for a school is to visit it and we extend an open invitation to anyone who is interested in what we do. Make an appointment and come and see us in action. I believe you’ll be impressed.

Yours sincerely
